I have known Sushi Hut restaurant back when I still worked in Boissevain around 2009. Since the distant of Boissevain and Brandon is about 45 minutes driving, I went to Brandon quite often to satisfying my craveness for Asian foods.

Sushi Hut is an all-you-can-eat sushi place that I can say a better one compare to the ones that we have here in Winnipeg. When many Japanese restaurants in Winnipeg didn’t have BBQ salmon belly menu, this restaurant was the first one that I knew. I’m kinda tired of sushi that is why lately when I go out for sushi, I barely pick sushi dishes and go for other many different Japanese dishes that restaurants can offer such as BBQ salmon belly, BBQ salmon ribs, takoyaki, sashimi and many other things except sushi. By serving big pieces of sashimi, BBQ salmon belly and salmon flower has stolen my heart.

I finally went to this place again this year when I visited my friend in Boissevain last January. This time we only had some salads that contained avocado, breaded scallop, calamari rings, BBQ beef short ribs, more than twice order of BBQ salmon belly and salmon flower. We also had something like spicy tuna or salmon. I actually forgot already.

BBQ beef short ribs were tender but compare to the Korean version Kalbi, it will need some kick in the level of spiciness :). The spicy salmon that was wrapped with nori which I forgot the name was yummy too.

To balance out our order that was heavily acid (acid doesn’t mean sour), we requested to have salad with avocado. Avocado has a high-alkaline content.

I wouldn’t say tempura scallop and squid as the batter style wasn’t tempura batter. I would describe as breaded scallop and calamari rings. The breaded scallop was good with wasabi mayo on the side while calamari rings had a teriyaki sauce for dipping.

The best of all was BBQ salmon belly and salmon flower we ordered more than twice. Everything was good. The only disappointment was they didn’t serve matcha ice cream anymore for dessert. Instead we had a regular chocolate ice cream.

If you have something to do in Brandon, be sure to visit this place. They have a different menu all you can eat for lunch and dinner hours. The dinner is more expensive but it has more choices.
