Sumac Beet Chips Recipe

Beet roots are often eaten in my household. I usually make them into salad, fritters or food colouring. Then, I turned the beets into chips after seeing a picture on pinterest that was pinned from Donna Hay as I needed an idea on how to utilize my Sumac.

The original idea was making chips from eggplant and sumac for seasoning. Sumac has a purplish-red ground spice form, is from dried berries that have a slightly astringent lemony flavour and popular to be used in Middle Eastern cuisine. I have bought Sumac long time ago from the Middle East store which is not that far from where I live. This little store is known as a halal store.

I definitely like the taste of Sumac. It is a good combination with beets. Sumac is given a little tart kick to sweetness of roasted beet. If you haven’t tasted this spice, give a try and let me know what you think!
