About

I was born in an East Java small town nearby the Madura strait and lived there until I was 8 years old. Due to my father’s profession, our family moved to Sidoarjo, a suburban of Surabaya (the capital city of East Java province). I moved out from my parents’ house when I was 18 years old and stayed in Bogor, a suburban of Jakarta (Indonesia’s capital city) for my higher education.

Formerly this blog’s name was The Art and Science of Food. Why the name Indonesia Eats? Indonesia Eats is more perfect to what I am sharing. Indonesia is a place where the smells and tastes of spices and goodies from my Javanese late mom’s kitchen and North Sumatran late dad’s influences as well as delicacies from my Chinese-Indonesian neighbours; this blog is very much filled with nostalgia.

My first language is bahasa Indonesia, then I learned Javanese when I was 4 years old. English is my additional language which I learned when I was 13 years old. So please bear with me if I do make mistakes.
Agri-food technology was my background, somehow being creative in the kitchen and food photography are more interesting. I am a freelance food photographer who is opening opportunities for wedding shots.
